Get Ready for the Vail Lake Shootout Mountain Bike Race on June 24th
6/7/06 - On Saturday, June 24th, local Murrieta-based mountain bike race squad Team I.E. Bikes will be hosting the second in a series of mountain bike races. Vail Lake Shootout #2 will be held at Vail Lake RV Resort (8 miles south of I-15 on SR 79 south). Vail Lake has been around since the 1800's. It once served as wagon train stop and is now an oasis for families to camp and enjoy good wholesome activities. The 2nd race of this young series looks to be a great time that will include challenging cross-country and super downhill races, a kid's race sponsored by Shimano, an expo area for sponsors and vendors, a raffle with great prizes, and a $1000.00 cash prize for any expert, semi-pro, or professional racer who clears the “no dab hill climb challenge.” Racers are encouraged to come out, enjoy some great racing, and even receive a discounted rate on camping should they decide to bring the whole family. more info >

Sydor and Kabush win the Pro Short Track at the Fontana NORBA
5/8/06 - Yesterday we headed out to Fontucky to check out the NORBA Nationals at Southridge and spread the word about the Mountain Bike Schedule on SoCalCycling.com. It was a nice venue that was easy to get to for a NORBA National and a little easier on the gas tank than going up to Big Bear. We watched the Pro Women and Men's Short Track races, which were fast, exciting, and included thirty minutes of lung searing pain. The course went up the Mountain Cross course, so there were berms and double jumps that the riders climbed up, with a short technical downhill and a long flat section. It was amazing how fast they went up the climb. In the end, former roadie Alison Sydor (Rocky Mountain) and Geoff Kabush (Maxxis) each won their events.

Kabush, Vanlandingham Ride to Side-By-Side Wins in Fontana NORBA
5/7/06 - Credit Fontana with a first in the history of the NORBA National Mountain Bike Series: Defending cross-country champions Geoff Kabush (Maxxis) and Shonny Vanlandingham (Luna) coasted across the finish line side by side to win the first round of the 2006 series. more >

Mountain Bike Update: Southridge this Week and Mammoth Cancelled
5/2/06 - The USA Cycling MTB National Championships, scheduled July 20- 23 in Mammoth, has been canceled due to too much snow. A new race venue is being determined for these same dates. In addition, the Norba Mountain Bike Series takes place this week, May 5-7, in Southridge Park, Fontana. Or, as we like to say, Fontucky. This should be a great event to ride in or watch. For more info, check out the Southridge Schedule or visit our Mountain Bike Schedule.
