You can get the ride details on our training rides page at

http://www.socalcycling.com/Group%20Rides/frGroupRides.htm

It is on the left under Annual Rides at the bottom.

Have Fun!

There is a San Diego version of the New Years ride also. Anyone have info on this?

Made it to the Top of Mt Wilson! It was a challenging but fun ride. Bunch of nice fellas to ride with. The down hill of course was the best part.

See you next year!

Good job! I've never done the NYD Ride up there, but have ridden that route and it is a good one.

If you like to mountain bike, there is a really nice trail that starts in Alta Dena (I think) and comes out at the top of Mt. Wilson. I did it once on Thanksgiving when all of the leaves were changing and it was really beautiful.

Keep up the climbing! Smile

You must be talking about the Mt. Lowe Railway. Greatest ride ever. Goes by White City, which used to be a resort for the rich and famous, and then back to Ye Olde Tavern, and then Ispiration Point, before it lets out on Mt. Wilson Rd. The fire road starts at Chaney Trail above Alta Dena.

After googling it, I think I may have done Henninger Flats, but I'm not sure. I think it started at a big wash or dam? I just remember we rode past the 90210 house that they used in the TV show riding to the trail from Mark Rich's house in Alta Dena. Smile

About ten years ago, we did a lot of really fun mountain bike rides in the Pasadena / Alta Dena / Sierra Madre area that I can't remember the names of.

Your ride sounds really cool with a lot of history. I think we'll have to venture back to that area for some more good mountain bike and road rides up Mount Wilson.

This link has a lot of info on rides in that area - http://velo.caltech.edu/rides.html
