I know of 2 riders interested in a track series. I was wondering if there would be a lot of interest?

I figure, during road season it is hard to pull women in too many directions since our numbers are limited. I also am aware people tend to choose uscf races over track events at times so trying to have a weekend track race series for women during regular road series is not an option at this time.

I also know that over the winter a lot of "tactics" and handling skills take a side bar.
Hence my question is: Would women be interested if we had some classes clinics at our socal velodromes during late fall and winter to keep our bike skills in check so we are ready to ride safely in Feb on the road?

This way also, there would be no conflict.

I would need an ADT contact and experienced preferrably female track rider to help with this series. It would be low key and basically a keep in shape and learn type series.
I know that track riders usually have great bike handling skills and it would be great to have that spill over into the early road season next year.

And I would also benefit as I am not yet as comfortable on the track as I am on the road. I would get to learn too!
Question: Is there an interest in track clinics/skills and a mini track series?

I'd be interested, as long as I can make it work schedule-wise.

My guess is weeknights will be tough for people to travel. SO I am hoping to have a contact at each track so there can be a session simultaneously at each one to get all areas. THEN we can have the ladies "race" at the track on the weekend. My idea is: one track a weekend, 3 race events a month, 1 weekend off. That way my hope is the ladies that are attending the clinics will "travel" to be able to race with each other so there will be a nice size field.

There are so many types of track races, I also hope to have for example:
Novemeber: weekend 1 Encino sprints/mass starts
weekend 2 San Diego pursuits/mass starts
weekend 3 ADT keirin/mass starts
Then rotate: so eventually riders will have experienced every type of event (except madison) on all the track surfaces.

October is Elite Track Nationals, I am also hopeful to maybe incorporate a "viewing" and have like a WCC section for ladies to sit and watch and we can maybe have someone explain the races/rules that are occuring. I will have to check the schedule to see when the women's events are.

I already have a lot of interest! I am very pleased.

Hey,

I've never been on a track but I know a few of our girls (SC Velo) expressed some interest in getting out there.
