This was just sent to the Cat 4 riders today:
"It was brought to my attention yesterday that the Women's race at this year's Valencia Stage Race was a Cat 1-4. I spoke with the Chief Referee and the promoter. They both agreed to my proposal: give the Cat 4 women their own race. Here is how it will work:
Purse will consist of medals and their may be primes
For the road race, the Cat 4s will start one minute behind the Women's Cat 1-3 field
For the criterium, the Cat 4s will start one minute behind the Women's Cat 1-3 field
There will be a mentor that will ride in the criterium who will provide advise and will neutralize the field when being passed by the Cat 1-3 women
USCF upgrade and SoCal Cup points will be available
I hope you see this as the start of some positive things for women's Cat 4 racing. Dorothy Wong is now responsible for women's programs for the SCNCA. She will have a lot to tell you over the next few days about the new initiatives she is working on. This e-mail has gone out to all the Cat 4 women who are listed on the 2006 SoCal Cup. Please help spread the word.
Let me know if you have any questions. There will be an updated race flyer in a few days at <http://www.scnca.org>www.scnca.org

I'm thinking about going, but don't want to race a field of 5. Any other Cat 4s heading out for it?
Thanks to the scnca and the Race Promotors for being flexible. |
