Serfas Furano Saddle
By Nate Deibler

The saddle you forget is there. That is the way to describe the perfect seat. This is the way I felt when I got off my bike after riding on the new Serfas Furano for the first time. I found this remarkable about my first ride on this saddle. I was instantly at ease and there was no question that this is the most comfortable ride I have had from a seat. There is no question of stability or ride smoothness even while putting in high mileage days.

I heard about the saddle before I saw it. “It looks really heavy, yet it is super-light. It is a surprisingly plush ride.” My hopes were not too high after hearing those remarks, as I was afraid of riding a seat that looked like an old-school banana seat. To be honest, we all want the most comfort out of a seat, but we aren't willing to sacrifice looks to get it either. I saw the saddle and was happily surprised at the appearance. It looks sleek with blue and white lettering on top and a carbon fiber shell on the back edge. It is lighter than it looks and weighs in at 240 grams. Even with the shaving of weight, there is a perfect amount of cushion and stiffness from this seat in all conditions. This is due to the extra wide nose. The cover is just tacky enough so you don't slip around while pushing hard. I have also been impressed after riding for two months that the padding has kept its shape and responsiveness. There are no signs of abnormal wear or flex in the Ti rails or carbon base.

Even after long days in the saddle, I have yet to experience the least bit of discomfort in the most sensitive area. Saddles are like shoes, in that each person feels more comfortable with a different brand or style. What I know, is this saddle for me is the cream of the crop. If you are looking for a saddle with just the right amount of cushion and stability, the Serfas Furano is definitely worth a test ride. You may even have to remind yourself you are sitting on something!

The Serfas Furano Saddle can be purchased at Incycle and other fine shops.
